NWSL Week 9: I want Copa HERmerica Instead

OK, OK, it's a soccer fan's dreamworld right now. But it's almost all men's soccer. Between the homophobic slurs being shouted during goal kicks by some (many) groups of fans during Copa America and the hooliganism on display in France, it's a bit much to take. Recently, there's been some sort of nonsense fighting in the streets between fans of the MLS sides in New York. Seriously?

In contrast, you've got the women's game. Teeming masses of girls with stars in their eyes imagining a world in which they'll make it to the pros some day. Players who (mostly) show their appreciation for their fans. And no idiots. Well, maybe a few idiots.

I'd give up all future men's soccer matches if we could have women's tournaments in their place. Copa HERmerica. EuroSHEan Championships. SHEFA Women's World Cup. SheBelieves Cup. NWSL. On TV. All Year. Non Stop. Who's with me?

This week in the NWSL, you've got the strong getting stronger as McCall Zerboni joins table-toppers WNY Flash. The Breakers will have to figure out how to manage without her, as she's been their most formidable midfielder. Nowhere to go but up. Speaking of which...

Bold Predictions: Last week I was 2/5 again, good for a cumulative 11/24 embarrassment. Bold.

Here's this week's matchups, all ready for your YouTube enjoyment:

Portland Thorns at WNY Flash

Friday at 7:00PM Eastern

Bold Prediction: WNYF 2-1 Thorns. Nobody wants to go to Rochester this year.

Orlando Pride at Washington Spirit

Saturday at 7:00PM Eastern

Bold Prediction: Spirit 2-1 Pride. Washington avenges their Boston draw as D-Math returns.

Boston Breakers at Chicago Red Stars

Saturday at 8:00PM Eastern

Bold Prediction: Oof. Chicago drew Portland last week, but they shouldn't have much trouble with the Breakers. Red Stars 3-1 Boston

Seattle Reign at Sky Blue FC

Sunday at 6:00PM

Bold Prediction: Tough one here. Seattle won't like the travel, but I think they'll get the job done against Sky Blue. Reign 1-0 Sky Blue.

FC Kansas City at Houston Dash

Sunday at 8:30PM Eastern

Bold Prediction: Dash get the job done at home. Dash 3-1 FCKC.
