NWSL Week 15 Preview & Picks

It's Week 15! And, because the first match starts soon and I've been glued to ESPN3 for the UEFA Women's EURO Tournament, it's going to be a wicked short read on the previews & picks this week. The good news is that a few other fun things are coming soon, so watch ye olde Twitter feeds. Without further ado:

First up, on Lifetime:

Orlando Pride at Chicago Red Stars

Saturday at 3:30PM on Lifetime TV

Unlike in this picture, the Red Stars will be at home this afternoon. Where they thrive.

OK Red Stars, it's time to impress. You've got a resurgent Pride squad coming to town, but you're supposedly one of the best teams in the league. It's time to prove it. At home, on national TV, I think Chicago pulls out the win.

Red Stars 2-1 Orlando Pride

Boston Breakers at Houston Dash

Trap game for Houston

Trap game for Houston

Houston hasn't lost a match in a while, but neither has Boston. The Breakers will want an away win desperately, after having had their last road trip to Houston ruined on a phantom hand-ball call on what should have been a winning goal. Houston will have Carli Lloyd back in action after her red card suspension, and Carli Lloyd makes a difference. Boston, still missing Rose Lavelle and their EURO players Emilie Haavi and Amanda DaCosta, will have to see if new USWNT call-up Midge Purce can spark the goal scoring and start to assert herself in the second half of the season. Feels like a draw, but I'm going to implore Karma to permit a winner for the visitors.

Boston 3-2 Houston

North Carolina Courage at FC Kansas City

Can FCKC hold the table toppers at home?

Can FCKC hold the table toppers at home?

You'd love to see FCKC figure something out and find a way to beat the Courage. But the former Flash are too strong and their defense isn't going to let Leroux send them home without points. Can't see this one going the way of the home team.

FCKC 1-3 NC Courage

Sky Blue FC at Seattle Reign

Seattle needs to find a way to win without Fishlock

Seattle needs to find a way to win without Fishlock

Seattle looks good, but they really miss Fishlock. And Sky Blue looks good mostly when they're behind and need to score to avoid a bad loss. That's actually exactly how I expect this game to go, with Seattle striking early and Kerr finding a way to claw back level to earn a road point.

Seattle 2-2 Sky Blue FC

Washington Spirit at Portland Thorns

Portland can't afford a let-down against Washington

Portland can't afford a let-down against Washington

Portland found a way to play last week and if they come out looking nearly as good, Washington won't have much of a chance. That's a big if, but I suspect Parsons will have the Thorns ready to take care of business at home and keep pushing to secure a playoff berth.

Thorns 2-1 Spirit
