NWSL Week 14: Summer Heat

Big game this week for Sky Blue FC as the Olympics-depleted Washington Spirit come to town.

Big game this week for Sky Blue FC as the Olympics-depleted Washington Spirit come to town.

Four games on tap this week in the NWSL, as teams have mercifully started taking bye weeks. Boston and Portland are on the shelf until next weekend, giving the Breakers time to incorporate new arrivals Natasha Dowie and Ghoutia Karchouni into the side. With a sold-out match against Orlando, and a newly-inked sponsorship deal with Bud Light Beer*, Boston will want to give the home crowd something positive to remember going into the Olympic break. But that's next week.

Last week, I reverted to bad predictions form and feel it is best to not mention it further. Yikes.

Enjoy the weekend!

FCKC at WNY Flash

Saturday at 7:00PM Eastern

Bold Prediction: Nobody wants to go to Rochester. At least they'll get to play on an actual soccer pitch this week, back at Rhinos Stadium. Flash 3-1 FCKC

Washington Spirit at Sky Blue FC

Saturday at 7:00PM Eastern

Bold Prediction: Sky Blue might just be putting something together. I didn't think they were too impressive last week against the Breakers, but Washington is missing a few key cogs to the Olympics, and Sky Blue might be finding their stride. I like them at home. Sky Blue 3-2 Spirit.

Houston Dash at Chicago Red Stars

Saturday at 8:00PM Eastern

Bold Prediction: Dash are bad. Red Stars 2-0 Dash.

Orlando Pride at Seattle Reign

Sunday at 10:00PM Eastern

Bold Prediction: Strange game. Orlando is in Seattle this week, Boston next week, and all the while missing their international Olympians. I think Seattle takes care of business at home, but narrowly. Reign 2-1 Pride.

*Bud Light is, legally, beer. *shudder* Thanks for sponsoring the Breakers, Bud Light.
